A Year in Review: Reflections of 2025

As we arrive at the close of 2025, we find ourselves pausing, not to rush into what’s next, but to reflect on what has been.
This year has been shaped by intention, connection, and a continued commitment to slowing down. From the people we’ve partnered with, to the pieces we’ve released, to the moments we’ve shared with our community, 2025 has reminded us why we choose to do things differently. This journal is a quiet reflection on the year that was, the learnings, the milestones, and the gratitude we carry forward.

This year marked the beginning of a deeply meaningful partnership with Saheli Women.
Saheli Women believe that true fashion starts with the Earth and the women who nurture and farm it. Together, we are working to launch Saheli Kapas, a Cotton Project designed to support and empower female farmers at the very root of the supply chain, where care, labour, and knowledge are so often unseen.
As part of this partnership, we donate $5,000 each month to support the Saheli Kapas project. This contribution helps create safer, more sustainable livelihoods for women farmers, honouring their work and strengthening the foundations of ethical fashion.
This partnership reflects our belief that meaningful change begins at the source, and that supporting women at every stage of creation matters.

In a year where the fashion industry continues to move faster than ever, we chose to move slowly.
In line with our slow fashion ethics, we only released 21 products throughout 2025, far fewer than the standard industry rate. Each piece was developed with care, intention, and patience, allowing space for thoughtful design and respectful production.
We are deeply grateful for the love shown to every garment released this year. Your continued support allows us to prioritise quality over quantity, and to honour the makers whose hands bring each design to life. Every style carries time, skill, and care, and we never take that lightly.

We proudly continued to support Eco Femme and their vital work in menstrual health and education.
In February 2025, on Random Acts of Kindness Day, we donated 320 menstrual kits to support women and girls in need. Later in the year, on Menstrual Hygiene Day, May 25th, we reached a long-held goal, donating a total of 1,000 menstrual kits through our partnership with Eco Femme.
We are honoured to support an organisation creating lasting impact through dignity, education, and access. You can read more about Eco Femme and their mission in our journal.

This year, we were deeply grateful to collaborate with Projecthrive on Nora Maxi in Primrose.
Through this initiative, we were able to provide employment to four skilled artisans, creating 212 days of meaningful work. This support has helped sustain families who might otherwise face limited access to income and education opportunities.
Primrose was more than just a dress. It was a reminder of the power of collaboration and the importance of preserving traditional artforms through thoughtful, respectful work. You can read more about this collaboration on our journal.

In 2025, we hosted our first ever Daughters of India event, welcoming local women to gather for a day of connection, conversation, and shared presence.
Held in honour of the Spring Equinox, the day was centred around community. It was a space to meet, reflect, and simply be together. The day reminded us of the importance of slowing down and creating moments for real connection beyond the digital world.
We left feeling full, grateful, and inspired by the women who joined us.

As we close this chapter, we do so with deep gratitude.
To our community, thank you for choosing to walk alongside us. Thank you for supporting slow fashion, for valuing thoughtful creation, and for believing in a gentler way forward. Everything we do is shaped by the women who choose DOI, and we carry that responsibility with care.
As we step into a new year, we do so slowly, holding onto what matters, and remaining open to what’s to come.
With love and gratitude,
Daughters of India xx
